Patch 8.1 – Gnomeregan Pet Battle Dungeon

General Where does it start? In Dazar’alors “Hall of Beasts” Radek Fuselock will offer the quest https://ptr.wowhead.com/quest=54184 to players at level 120 and we’ll meet Manapoof again (for Alliance it’s Tizzy Gearjolt at Boralus’ “Ruff Waters” with her own version of Manapoof). As usual, on our first run, we have to reach that destination without Manapoof’s teleport. Horde players who don’t wanna die by entering Gnomeregan via Dun Morogh head to Grom’gol in Stranglethorn Vale and use the teleporter to Gnomeregan dungeon. You can’t leave through the dungeon entrance (you will get teleported back to Grom’gol this way), so you have to invite someone to a group and then leave it. You will get teleported out of the dungeon to the next graveyard and this right next to  Environeer Bert’s pet battle and your destination NPC Micro Zoox. Rewards: Not only is Micro Zoox the guy that takes you into the scenario, he’s also a vendor and will offer these items in exchange for the new Pristine Gizmo tokens rewarded by completing the challenge version of the Gnomeregan pet battle dungeon: https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=165839  (1x Pristine Gizmo) https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=165844  (1x Pristine Gizmo) https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=165854  (1x Pristine Gizmo) https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=165855  (2x Pristine Gizmo) https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=165857  (3x Pristine Gizmo) Before you can enter the challenge mode you have to finish the normal pet battle dungeon to complete the quest Gnomeregan’s New Guardians. When it’s done you will learn https://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=286079 and receive 1x  https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=122457. When you manage to complete the challenge version (healing & reviving pets between fights is inactive) for Pet Battle Challenge: Gnomeregan you achieve https://ptr.wowhead.com/achievement=13269 and receive the https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=165894 battle pet.   Dungeon Details Stage 1...

Ironskin bug? Maybe more shields?

With all the time I spend on testing PetBattles with teams from XuFu right now I experienced something I’d call a bug. (btw. if I talk about base damage here, I mean the damage number of an ability as shown for a level 25 rare pet in the journal)   When testing Illidari Master Sissix with the Direbeak Hatchling & Iron Starlette carry team I was absolutely surprised that my Flying didn’t take any damage until Ironskin was gone, especially with Living Pool using Corrosion – a magic ability that should be very strong against my Flying. Looking at the tooltips I was confused even more, Corrosion is listed with 235 effective magic damage (157 base damage + 50% vs. Flying) so I’d expect it to do at least 4 damage and applying the DoT to my Flying with Ironskin reducing incoming damage by only 231. But no, Corrosion was completely blocked! So it looked like the base damage of an ability has to be higher than the amount of damage Ironskin reduces, elsewhise the attack is blocked, racial damage bonuses won’t effect that in any way! This got even more interesting when I thought of the opposing way – what will happen to my Ironskin when attacked by weak Beast abilities? So I applied the 231 Ironskin to my Flying pet and another player attacked with Bite. The tooltip said Bite should do weak 182 Beast damage to my pet so what would you expect when your shield is reducing damage by 231 damage? No damage I assume. But again, something completely different happened, Bite did 29 damage!...

Dr. Ion Goldbloom (Celestial Tournament)

Team: Warbot (Missile, Minefield, Extra Plating) Death Talon Whelpguard (Shadowflame, Whirlwind, Clobber) Elekk Plushie Strategy: With all the Feign Death pet swaps on Goldbloom’s side, I wanted to place Minefields as often as possible and see how far I can go and it went really well. Screamer is a flying creature so he will be faster than my pets and Lift-Off first. An attack would be wasted so we use Extra Plating. In best case we don’t see any crits now and need 3 Missiles to bring Screamer below 50% HP. The next atack would be wasted, because he will Feign Death now so we prepare a Minefiled to damage the incoming Trihorn. When we shot 3 Missiles on Screamer, we can now use Extra Plating again before Trike is able to stun us. We now kill him with Missiles (even 1 stun shouldn’t effect that, crits of course can) and Screamer will be back. He is now slower than our Warbot, feign Death is on CD so we can use one Missile before the Lift-Off and then prepare another Minefield. Usually Warbot will die from Lift-Off damage so bring your Dragonkin and use Shadowflame or Whirlwind when Screamer has less than 285 HP so the split damage will kill him. When Chaos is coming in, stun with Clubber and then spam Shadowflames. I could repeat that kill multiple times and there are a lot of things that can change the fight a bit, but when you are able to kill Trike with the Warbot and only need one attack from the Dragonkin to kill Screamer then he is...

Cymre Brightblade (WoD Daily Tamer)

Gorgrond’s Grand Master Pet Tamer Cymre Brightblade had an eventful history in the beta but with the last changes for the pets and a more reasonable use of the Wish abilty I think this could be the final state of the probably most challenging tamer fight in Draenor. Team: Teroclaw Hatchling (Alpha Strike, Dodge, Nature’s Ward) Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (Breath, Thunderbolt, Explode) Carry Pet Strategy: Start with Dodge to avoid the first Rot usage, then Strike the Idol until it uses Rot a second time. Replace the Undead Mark with Nature’s Ward and Strike until your opponent is below 15% HP (some people say 250 HP), he will precast Dark Rebirth. Now be careful with your next steps… Don’t attack until the Rebirth passive is gone! If you already lost your speed boost from Flying passive or lose it with the incoming Swarm of Flies damage at the end of the round, use Dodge one turn before Rot is ready, If you are still faster use it when Rot is ready, then kill the Idol and refresh Nature’s Ward in his undead extra round so he can heal in the back line. Swap your Dragonling. I sarifice this mechanical pet… there’s only the S/S breed so with the Sunlight weather effect it has 2100 total health and Explode will do 40% = 840 damage so Breath until the lantern is below 840 HP and then Booooom! 😉 Swap carry pet and back to your Teroclaw Hatchling. As long as you have the first attack, use Dodge when it’s ready AND a rocket launcher is there, have Nature’s Ward active...
